College and youth

College and youth championships.

School, college and Pony Club teams have their own championships. In the US the 2025 and 2026 national championships were played in March and April; in the UK the 2025 Pony Club championships held their finals in August.

College polo in the US is played mainly in arenas through the academic year, with the 2025 and 2026 national championships in March (Division I) and April (Division II). How school, college and Pony Club polo are organised, and how to get involved, is covered in getting started. This page covers the championships and recent results.

A note on sourcing: the USPA's uspolo.org blocked our reader, so several results below rest on search-result summaries of USPA pages. We mark those rows "search summary".

USPA National Intercollegiate Championships

The U.S. Polo Assn. brand describes the Division I National Intercollegiate Championships (NIC) as the highest level of US college polo. In 2026 the Division I men's and women's championships were played at Prestonwood Polo and Country Club in Oak Point, Texas, near Dallas, from 19 to 22 March. Texas A&M's 2025 Division I men's title was also won at Prestonwood, which the USPA described as the event's first return to Texas since 2014. Division II nationals were played in April in 2025.

2026 marked the 50th anniversary of the Division I Women's Intercollegiate tournament, and the 2026 finals were to air on ESPN and Global Polo.

Pony Club polo in the UK

The 2025 Pony Club Polo Championships, titled the Hurlingham Polo 1875 Pony Club Polo Championships, were held at Cowdray Park with finals on Sunday 10 August 2025. According to the Worshipful Company of Loriners, 74 teams and just under 300 players aged 6 to 21 took part.

  • Sections. The Loriners' Division is for players aged 14 to 17 and is played for the Loriner / Rendell Cup. Older reports, seen in search summaries, name the Gannon as the top section; Cotswold Hunt won it in 2015 and 2016, both times over the Old Surrey and Burstow.
  • The youngest players. Pony Club Jorrocks teams (ages 6 to 10, on ponies of 13.2hh and under) and Jopps teams (ages 6 to 11) played display matches at the HPA's International Day at Guards in July 2026.

We did not find the section winners for 2025 or 2026, or any US Pony Club polo national results.

  • Australian Polo reported an Australia win over New Zealand in an international schools match at Windsor Polo Club, New South Wales, in October 2025. We could not confirm it from a second source.

How college arena scores work

The Virginia Polo primer describes US college arena polo as four chukkers of 7.5 minutes, with a goal from outside the 25-yard line counting two. See snow and arena events for more on arena scoring.
